How is it already (almost) July?!?!?

To be honest I can’t remember if we posted about it or not but syrup season this year was bizarre.

Thanks to not enough snow and not enough cold the season was only about half as long as normal— but we somehow still managed to out produce last season which meant we were left scrambling after sapping was done to finish production and packaging etc.

Never mind that even just yesterday I was out in the sugar shack and found an entire shelf of syrup that I managed to bottle but is still missing labels. Oops. Add that to the to do list.

The good news is that last minute we again were able to connect with one of GRs local distilleries and borrow another bourbon barrel to be able to produce another batch of bourbon aged syrup— now available for on farm pick up for $12 a bottle and absolutely making appearances at any remaining markets we attend.

Believe it or not I’m told it’s even better than last year (I’m a poor judge because I love it all).

Our new product for 2021 is granulated maple sugar. Pure maple syrup. No additives. Only the good stuff. Used 1:1 in place of brown or white sugar— and let me tell you— added to oatmeal or for chocolate chip cookies— this stuff is TO DIE FOR.

We currently have $10 (half pound) bags in stock but will produce one pound bags again in the near future.

And if you had been following along previously— due to the types of syrup produced this strange season— I was very nervous about not being able to produce maple cream this year— but it worked!!!!

Next availability at Market on The Ridge (city addition) in September for $12 a jar. It will sell out for the year at the market.

Speaking of markets...

Market on the Ridge at Whipporwill Farms in May was amazing. It was honestly our busiest and most successful to date— so THANK YOU to any and everyone who participated to make that a success.

Unfortunately due to how popular the farm has become as a wedding venue that was the last market there for the foreseeable future.

But the GREAT news is the wonderful ladies who organize the market were able to work with the town of Sparta and connect their event with Applefest!

We are unsure as to whether we will attend other markets this summer due to the raging success we had at the first MOTR this season— (stay tuned for market updates).

But what I can tell you is that we are saving the bulk and the best of our 2021 products for this market in September.

This is a definite DO NOT MISS.

Until then we will be over here loving on baby goats and gardening and raising chickens and working on all new products including soaps, salves and lip balms made with goat’s milk, beeswax and lavendar grown right here on our farm as well.

Hopefully before too long we will be adding them to our product line up and releasing them to share with all of you.
